Gilbert R. Valdez, M.A., LPCC

Mental Health First Responder 

Gilbert Valdez is a clinical therapist who has worked with families, children, adolescents and adults. For a decade, he has treated individuals with severe mental illness, serious childhood disorders, substance use disorders, and post traumatic stress. Gilibert has a background in martial arts, the fitness industry, and education.  Currently, he is a mental health first responder in Bernalillo County and the city of Albuquerque. As a mobile crisis therapist, Gilbert responds to active mental health 911 level crises with law enforcement and paramedics. Gilbert enjoys sharing his unique perspective as a mental health first responder, specifically, his observations on the intersection between mental health, first responders, systems of care, and the community. When he isn’t serving his community, he and his wife adventure with their three young daughters.
